Bianchi Gran Sport

I just got a vintage Bianchi Gran Sport. I got this bike second hand. It must be 30-40 years old. Pix at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikelevin/sets/72157615306749390/ The frame has a number "8" stamped below the crank. Can you help me identify its history?
