Event Description

From Marc Williams:

I and others are currently working on getting up a website to further focus our efforts and provide greater resources. www.botanyeveryday.com More to come soon!!!

The initial focus of the website is to list classes and events and also facilitate an online discussion through the book Botany in a Day 5th edition, by Thomas J. Elpel. My good friend and mentor Frank Cook, who crossed over last year, led a similar discussion for 9 years through email. If you are interested in the class and don’t have the book then please purchase it right away! Ideally get it directly from Thomas at http://www.hollowtop.com/contact.htm. Read through the first 16 pages to familiarize yourself once you have the book. The CLASS WILL BEGIN IN ABOUT A WEEK. This class will allow you to understand the patterns of the plant world and thereby greatly demystify the plant identification process. A new lesson will be posted every couple weeks through October…If you want a notification when a new class is posted then send me your email

The class will be offered by donation. $50 is the suggested amount. Your contributions will greatly aid my ability to walk the path of ethnobotany while earning right livelihood as well.

You can send checks, etc to

i will also have a paypal account set up on the website.

Ultimately i and several collaborators would like the site to be a resource for any and all things related to people and their interactions with plants. My main focus is related to the temperate world and Appalachia specifically. However we have a team of people also representing such diverse places as Florida, California, Costa Rica and Peru. The goal is to meld a rigorous backbone of cited and researched data with an interface that allows various levels of anecdotal content from visitors to the website. This website will also serve as a repository for “typical” pictures of plants from a host of plant families.

Most of my in the field scheduled events are in July and early August so far…After a very packed and intense spring of field teaching i am taking a small break to focus on other endeavors for the next few weeks including the website. However, i may be available for land consultations or other special events.
