It was, in fact a fine day at the garden! I will add more to this post after dinner. I'll explain the photos in the set. You can get a preview by clicking on the photo of Ku and his faithful bug protected with shirt to repel bugs friend, Salam.
Stay tuned!
This, my friends, is how yesterday's collard greens wound up on today's lunch table. That's some octopus (courtesy of Goya) and tomatoes, green onion and lettuce..yes, it was good.
This is Ron Chandler doing the right thing by his compost diligence. He's pouring some kitchen refuse into the McRorie Compost Bin. Custom bin, no less.
That sweet smelling refuse will make for some good compost for the garden, ultimately to mak our veggies healthy, wealthy and ripe. Read more about compost
here. That link is to an article I wrote yesterday for Elephant Journal on how compost is helping Haitians. You'll like it. Promise!
Here's Justin and his fine, vintage Nishiki. That's a Nishiki partially obscured by Sh'mal's collard greens, now mine!
So, back to the garden itself...Here's a view of the North part of the garden and the millhouse. There's a sign that says "Don't feed the tower", or some such request. That's because we have lots of tools and "suchlike" there. Sometimes, too much I suppose. That's why the sign says not to feed it.
This is my Lemon tree. You can see it has suffered from too little water, but there's still a solid lemon tree there and it smells marvelous! Very lemon--like.
I spent a good bit of time today preparing part of my plot for sweet pepper, okra, loofa and daikon seeds I'll plant in the morning.
This is garlic chives still thriving from the days Sh'mal planted them. Tasty little guys.
This is mesclun mix and bok choy that Mary and Ku gave me. High hopes for them, now that they've been water and fertilized a little. That is, fertilized with horse manure David Beasley and Genie left so thoughtfully for me. Thanks! It is making lots of little veggies hap-hap-happy!
If you're wondering why I am so jovial, it's because of some new yoga stuff I found online.
Here's another Elephant Journal article I wrote yesterday that may shed some light on the euphoria I can't seem to avoid.
Hang on while I have some McRorie dinner....
Stay tuned!
More, more, you say? Well, you asked for it. Here's Mary and some sweet, delectable peas I got a taste of tonight. Yum! And, all the while, Salam and Ku were looking on, mosquito free. Thanks, Mary!
This just in: note from Sh'mal -
"I'm working on a lentil veg stew here in Seattle. Hi to all"...I paraphrase, with editorial license...he's doing well.
