Dear Friends,
Two of our readers went to the St. Francis House perimeter at 11 a.m. today and found it already deserted. SFH starts lunch at 10 a.m., and apparently the 130 people are quickly accomodated. So they took the lunches to the downtown plaza and found some very hungry, grateful and gracious people - many 'thank yous' and "God bless yous." I am now thinking that it would be best for people to go there between ten and 10:15, to find people being turned away, and to go to the downtown plaza with anything extra. Some people have given up going to SFH for lunch, because they never manage to get in. I am hoping that this community effort will evolve in a Taoistic sort of way. At this point it is trial and error, which is just how the Home Van started, a bunch of folks stumbling around in the woods trying to find campsites.
Don't park in the St. Francis House parking lot. It needs to be crystal clear to one and all, especially Codes Enforcement, that this sharing of food has nothing to do with St. Francis House, which it does not.
The two pioneers who went out today with bagged lunches found it to be a wonderful experience.
I'll keep you posted!
