Dangerously organic!
Gainesville's Civic Media Center, hosted a beekeeping workshop at their Free University series, facilitated by expert beekeeper Cody Galligan.
Cody talked about setting up a hive, which he says might take as little as a couple of hours, or as long as you want, given artisan pursuits.
Cody recommended the book, The Barefoot Beekeeper, by P. J. Chandler. We all got a chance to glance at it. I checked and it's readily available.
We covered practically every basic question that occurred to me (over my lifetime!) and the group. Cody talked about protective gear, splitting the hive, harvesting honey, times the bees might be more passive (not dusk!), and benefits of beekeeping on the sustainable community.
Please add your comments and bear with me as I search my memory and notes for facts to add to this post.
