Dangerously organic!
“The Empanada Brotherhood“ is one of my favorite books. It’s deceptively simple. it’s about a bunch of Latino expats and the author, a young, struggling angst imbued writer, who like to meet at an empanada stand in New York City.
John Nichols doesn’t do email. I wrote him a letter telling him how much I enjoyed his book. He wrote back. A handwritten postcard.
He has lived in Taos for over 50 years.
I love this video because at the end he plays the guitar and sings a song. He plays the guitar really well. It’s a funny little song, a lot like The Empanada Brotherhood.
