Dangerously organic!

Just crank this up and read on!

Spring Planting at McRorie Community Garden

The broccoli we grow at McRorie Community Garden is so tasty it sometimes doesn't make it home! I had this as a lunch reward after planting some good, hardy vegetables for my Spring garden.

This is the "after" photo of my patch after planting kale, collards, potatoes and cabbage.

I bought the sprouts at our local organic supply. Here, you can see some purple kale.

This is one of the 6 collard sprouts I planted. I chose the day to plant based on the moon phase and the weather prediction. It rained cats and dogs right after I planted. Big smile!

I grabbed some potatoes from the tool area and planted them. Sh'mal inspired me last year with his prowess in growing these tasty vegetables. So did Bruce and Bob with their tire planters. I use a photo of the tire planters as your default profile photo here on Zoobird.

Here's some of the ever present mint. I used some in this latest batch of kombucha. I'm on my third batch now. I'm using Turkish Caykur and Chinese green tea for this batch. Nice!

This guy is growing in Nick's patch. Looking good.

Here you can see the huge rosemary bush at my patch. There's a trusty McRorie chair just waiting for a sunny day and a book or just some time to reflect and enjoy the digs. Literally!

I planted the potatoes along the white picket fence in the back of my patch. You can see the soaker hose and tomato wire supports. I'll plant some tomatoes once it warms up a little. You may have noticed Michael Walker just joined Zoobird. He lives across the street and has lots of tomato sprouts. He offered to let me have some when I am ready for them. Double nice!

The horse manure we're sharing to organically fertilize our patches is wonderful. We're looking forward to some delicious vegetables this spring!
