"A Taste of Africa", by Dorinda Hafner is a good introduction to both African cooking and the geography and culture of Africa. You'll also find recipes from countries influenced by African culture, like Cuba, Jamaica and Brazil to name just a few. These aren't hard recipes to cook and they'll make you happy because the ingredients are easy to find. For example (I love Ethiopian food), there's one for Ethiopian fish. Get some fish, garlic, Berbere mix, tomatoes, peanut oil and groundnuts. Season the fish and bake. What is Berbere? I wrote about it in Elephant Journal
here. Groundnuts? They are like peanuts and a staple food in Africa. As time goes on, I'll write more detailed instructions about this recipe. For now, I just wanted to tease you with a "taste" of African style. Enjoy!
