Mushrooms are such an amazing flavor and so diverse in their different tastes. These Shitake mushrooms from the Winter Park Farmer's Market remind me of my visit to
Mycol's off-the-grid digs north of Gainesville. Mycol loves mushrooms so much he re-spelled his name Michael as Mycol! He fixed us dinner that visit using Shitake mushrooms he grew himself. I wrote all about the visit
here, in case you'd like a birds eye visit to Finca Mycol.
I saw some morels at the Berkeley Farmers Market when I visited
Michael Hauser. They were extra expensive. I have no idea what they taste like. I saw some dried ones in the market here. Are they comparable in quality? Have you got any experience with them to share?
I'm interested in easy, spectacular things to prepare using mushrooms. Mycol just tossed his home grown Shitakes into the pot with the rest of the stew for a delicious twist on the dinner. I just sauteed my Shitakes and added nothing for a flavor beyond what I predicted.
