The ad was about some prescription for depression, which obviously can be serious, but it was saying that the world begins to look black and white instead of in color... Well, that may be true in some cases, or it may be truer that in certain circumstances the world might become just very sad at every glance... Nevertheless, it has absolutely no bearing on my admiration of Ansel Adams' heroic efforts to bring his vision in spectacular black and white imagery, nor Poe's expression of grief in spectacularly dark imagery on paper...but, that's not what I was going to mention...

My point was that of my modest portfolio of supposedly "depressing" black and white photography, there's not one as disturbingly bland as this color-digital snap i shot of the pastoral and horrific "bloody lane" in Antietam. So much for viewing the world in Technicolor at all times, eh?

Comment by JB Doyal on October 22, 2008 at 2:42pm: oh WOW! be sure to click on the "view full size" link, then zoom in [click the button on the bottom right of the photo when it pops up] and look down to the right in the grass... sorry... it's SO interesting to me that mushrooms are growing like mad in the middle of "bloody lane"!
