We love collard greens. That reminds me - we haven't had any collards in a long time.

Time to get cooking :)

You are so fortunate to grow your own veggies. At the homestead here, it is all clay and very hard to dig. So, we have not even tried to grow anything here, yet. May be this year I will try growing some herbs and tomatoes. Thanks for the inspiration.

Pizza can be addictive! We have a recipe for pizza, which I will post soon.

Peace :)

Thanks, Chandra. These collard greens are my garden staple. I travel around a lot and I'm often not there to water and tend the plants like I should. Collard greens are the troopers. So are garlic chives. I'm a subscriber to the Fukuoka farming mailing list. Another fellow here at Zoobird recommended it.Fukuoka talks about complimentary plants. He also talks about planting in a way that has multiple impacts. Planting a big plant and a smaller one in its shade is an example. Another style of planting attracts butterflies, or repels mosquitos, or inhibits weeds. My patch had some straw placed in it that inhibited the weeds from growing. When I cleaned it yesterday it was much easier just because of the straw. How complicated is that? When we start relearning this lost knowledge we sometimes call "simple living", we find that it's beyond knowledge. It's wisdom. Convenience has let some of this wisdom get away, but we're hanging onto it. I know I was happier tonight eating a delicious green salad from my garden, picked yesterday. And you can tell by the complex, rich grab bag of emotions how much better a meal is when it's a group and a potluck. I know that's the case every time I do it for my gatherings. But, once I put out a survey and asked what food appealed most, listing Thai, Italian, Chinese, BBQ, etc and do you know what the vast majority chose? Dominos pizza! I'll never forget that!
