I like the woods first. All that other stuff is a lot of fun and a living, but oxygen, Trees, self-sufficiency, rippling creeks, coffee in the morning while everything is wet with dew and you're not, a good lantern, having good things to eat in the wild, coming back to the campsite - your campsite, then moving to another campsite, looking up at all the stars and recognizing a constellation and seeing a shooting star, then writing something in a journal by candlelight, turning it off and hearing all the crickets and an owl, then sleeping soundly until something like a damned mosquito (how did it get into the tent?) wakes you up, but you somehow fall back asleep despite that welt it left (damned mosquito), and the taste of the little bit of Bushmills you brought followed by some creek water to keep from dehydrating, but the flashlight is right by the door of the tent so you can get out and back with the comfort of seeing where you're going unless it's a full moon and then you don't even want to go back because it is so nice outside.... I had a VW Westfalia for a long time, then we moved to Ireland and I sold "Frederica". Recently, I bought a huge tent at Target - a lifetime warranteed 37lb 3 room tent. I love camping more than just about anything else. I love the feeling you have especially at night when you are in control of your outdoor surroundings, I love campfires and light at night. Then, I love breakfast. Rivers are good. Soap is good. Ramen and fresh veggies are marginal - any kind of meat, like chicken, fish (definitely need a skillet, butter, onions, herbs, and courage), beef (forget it, I'm watching my cholesterol now), something about hot beans is OK as long as there are some spicy peppers involved.... I could go on and on...
