Spring is in the air. It's as beautiful here in Winter Park, FL as it gets. April was the friendliest month I can remember here, ever. There are little baby grapefruits on the trees, Citrus blossoms are all replaced by these gems...
Every year some stragglers remain on the trees. I pick them as I can, make juice and eat the fruit. I hear grapefruit tea is very, very good. When I peel the skin off using my fingernail, I can smell all the good smells of the earth.
I planted 4 watermelon sprouts last month and only this one remains. Last spring, I planted some at McRorie Community Garden and the melons were absolutely stunning to see.
I found this growing on the ground in the shade of the lovely grapefruit tree. What is it, exactly?
I had a nice time rereading The Lorax yesterday. It is amazing how one's perception changes over 40 some-odd years.
