Dangerously organic!

Did you know Gainesville has a huge 6,800 acre lake abundant with wildlife, birds and flowers of all kinds? Located 5 minutes from the University of Florida? Let me introduce you to Newnan's Lake; a beautiful, ancient waterway that is vital to 80 nesting Bald Eagles, and solely feeds Paynes Prairie State Preserve. Gainesville's Best Kept Secret. . . . With 27 miles of shoreline you'll never run out of things to do! Newnan's Lake needs our help. . . . This lake is thousands of years old, and supported many Tribes of Native American People. However in 1966 a dam was built across Prairie Creek (Newnan's Outlet), it did not take long for this Popular Large Mouth Bass Tournament Lake to Sour. St. Johns River Water Management (the largest land holders) want to purchase more land to protect the swamps surrounding the lake; saying this is why the water is sour; everyone else; Paynes Prairie Biologist, and the Dam Committee all agree the dam created the problem and the creek should be dredged to remove the sediment to the original creek bed. Meanwhile, Alachua County looses millions of tourist dollars. And the Citizens just want their lake back. Before the dam people water skied, sailed, and swam in Newnan's Lake. Together we can make an immediate difference.
