The Portland Hawthorne Hostel is one of my favorite hostels in the world. It's in Portland, Oregon.

I did the same thing in 2007. In 2008, I came for the OSCON in July and then grabbed a ticket back a few weeks later just so I could enjoy the hostel, uninterrupted.

What a beautiful place!

Comment by Naomi Butterfield on November 17, 2008 at 4:11pm: I stayed there in May 2007 while I was at a conference in Portland, in a room just above the roof garden (wish I could remember which side!). My only regret was that I spent almost all of my time at the conference so I didn't get a chance to hang much at the hostel. Portland is such a beautiful city! They should definitely get the 'nicest bus drivers anywhere' award. :)
