Hello folks,
yesterday I participated in a group ride organized by BC Hellsinki. Group gathered to the museum of modern art (Kiasma) in Helsinki 11AM. First stop was to say "hello" to the Rainbow Warrior III (Greenpeace's ship) that was visiting the Helsinki harbor.
Shortly after the group (of 34 cyclists total) headed east toward the pictoresque city of Porvoo. Sun was shining, the wind was behind our backs and we arrived in Porvoo around 2PM. People had lunch in a park and sat down and chat around.for an hour and a half. Then we checked out the old church of Porvoo, and people tested their muscles driving up the church hill road (pretty steep).
Then the road back - because of the strong wind the group rode another old road called "Kuninkaantie", (the road of the king) back to Helsinki. Slightly longer but more far away from the sea so the forests gave some shelter, anyhow the group was riding in tight queue to fight the headwind.
Total mileage was around 120km's, I was back home after 8PM, so total ride time is somewhere between 5,5hrs to 6hrs. One knee hurts a bit, overall feeling is excellent. What a way to spend a sunny Sunday!
